TAO

Desde a adolescência a cultura e a sabedoria oriental me fascina.
E este fascínio, com o passar dos anos, acabou por moldar minha perceção estética do mundo.
É impossível dissociar a procura de um maior contacto com a natureza, com a simplicidade, com o que é essencial na vida do que tenho proposto através do meu trabalho com fotografia.
Assim nasceu meu “minimalismo monocromático”, o método com que apreendo aspectos da realidade e tento "revelá-los" à minha maneira.
Em um contexto cada vez mais "partido", binário, virtual, algorítmico, ideológico. Onde o excesso oprime, a informação confunde e a radicalização aparte e ofende, procuro nas águas de dois rios amazónicos o “caminho”, a fonte de onde tudo provém, o “TAO” do sábio Lao Tzu.
Estes dois gigantescos afluentes que atravessam alguns países da América Latina encontram-se perto da cidade de Manaus, no Amazonas.
Dois rios infinitos que se tocam, misturam-se numa extensão de 6 km sem nunca deixarem de ser o que são.
Em outras palavras: o rio Negro nunca se torna Solimões, o rio Solimões nunca se torna Negro.
Essas fontes de água e de vida, que deságuam no mesmo mar, têm cor, temperatura, acidez, densidade e velocidade completamente diferentes.
Algumas espécies de peixes só vivem no Rio Negro, outras só no Solimões.
Durante 3 dias consecutivos fotografei o encontro dessas águas que se transformaram em tinta no sensor da minha Fuji e depois seguiram seu fluxo em direção a um outro mar, uma outra dimensão que chamamos de arte.



Since adolescence, Eastern culture and wisdom have fascinated me.
And this fascination, over the years, has shaped my aesthetic perception of the world.
It is impossible to dissociate the search for greater contact with nature, with simplicity, with what is essential in life, from what I have proposed through my work with photography.
Thus was born my “monochromatic minimalism,” the method by which I grasp aspects of reality and try to “reveal” them in my own way.
In an increasingly “divided,” binary, virtual, algorithmic, ideological context. Where excess oppresses, information confuses, and radicalization alienates and offends, I seek in the waters of two Amazonian rivers the “path,” the source from which everything comes, the “TAO” of the wise Lao Tzu.
These two gigantic tributaries that cross several Latin American countries meet near the city of Manaus, in Amazonas.
Two infinite rivers that touch each other, mixing over a 6 km stretch without ever ceasing to be what they are.
In other words: the Negro River never becomes the Solimões, the Solimões River never becomes the Negro.
These sources of water and life, which flow into the same sea, have completely different colors, temperatures, acidity, densities, and speeds.
Some species of fish only live in the Negro River, others only in the Solimões.
For three consecutive days, I photographed the meeting of these waters, which turned into ink on the sensor of my Fuji camera and then continued their flow toward another sea, another dimension that we call art.
